Troubleshooting

False alarms, blocked checks and emails that don't arrive.

A website shows as down but works for me

  1. Open its Why is it down? page and read What we saw. A 403 Forbidden or a security page usually means our checker was blocked.
  2. If several websites went down at exactly the same moment and came back together, it was most likely a brief network problem between us and them. Nothing needs fixing.
  3. Still unsure? Send us a message with the website and time, and we'll look at it with you.

A keyword check fails but the page looks fine

Open the website's settings (the cog on the dashboard) and click Test on the live page. It shows each phrase as found, missing or showing. Text that only appears after logging in, or that the page adds with JavaScript after it loads, isn't seen, so choose text that's in the page itself. See Keyword checks.

Our checker is being blocked

Some firewalls, bot protection services and security plugins block automated visits. Allow requests with this user agent:

Alert emails don't arrive

  • Look in your spam or promotions folder, and add [email protected] to your contacts.
  • Check the Notifications tab in Your profile: alerts may be off, or off for that website.
  • Make sure your email address is confirmed. The dashboard says so if it isn't.

The times look wrong

Set your time zone in Your profile. Until you do, times are shown in UTC.

I can't add another website

You've reached your plan's limit. Paused websites count too. Remove one you no longer need, or ask the account owner to choose a bigger plan.
